stall

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there seems to be a prevailing notion that we have a lot of time on our hands. That we should be using this time to do things. Learn a new skill. Be creative. Be productive. But even with all the time in the world, an individual can only do so much. There are limits to what we can accomplish alone.

We are not machines. We don’t have unlimited motivation, stamina, and willpower, no matter how much we hype up ourselves up to believe that we do. In order to create important, lasting projects we need other people. We need teammates to help us ideate and build, customers to give us feedback, and people willing to invest their time and money into our projects in order for them to thrive. When we are insufficient in these things, we must make the decision to move on to other things and to put some projects in the back-burner.

We don’t need to let our projects die. We just have to be okay with letting them stall.
